I don't know what this Hasselblad limited ed. costs, but the Pentax
645 came in at $9999 with an 80mm lens.

The rubberised focusing grip on the lens is coming loose.

Typical Ferrari - Italian engineering at its best! Wink

I'm mightily relieved that the 645D is coming to the UK, otherwise
what on earth would I do with the Pentax 645 lenses I have been
acquiring over the last few months?

Only last month, I contacted Pentax UK only to be told that they
hadn't yet decided whether to import it. That is because of the cost
of setting up an aftermarket support system for professional shooters
- Pentax UK hasn't supported the pro market for many years now.

Anyway, it's coming in December 2010 and I have already placed a
deposit on one. The UK price is higher than the US price, but it is
still a bargain, at less than half the price of the Hasselblad. I'm a
big fan of Kodak sensors too. Wink

I've tried it out. It is amazing and probably the most well-balanced
camera in hand I've used.

The camera was pre-production and imaging wasn't allowed, but you
could shoot with it and review on the screen. The screen is nice!

They aren't insane. You can't sell a $10k camera made out of plastic.

But you can if it's made out of wood. Wink

And I bet it couldn't even do HDR !
------------------------------------------------
In May 2007, a daguerreotype camera dating back to 1839 became the
world’s most expensive camera when it sold at auction for €576,000—
about US $775,000 at the time. The camera, designed by Frenchman Susse
Freres, was housed in a sliding wooden box frame and was also believed
to be the oldest commercially manufactured camera in the world,
heightening its appeal to collectors.

No plastic whatsoever?
Me thinks you don't know WTF you are talking about.

No plastic in substantive areas. I can only relate it to telescopes
where high-end instruments sport ZERO plastic.

Some wooden view cameras today aren't cheap either.

I think you'll find that "Susse Frères" (lit., "Sweet Brothers"?) was a
*company*, not a Frenchman. The "Frenchman" would be Louis Daguerre, from whom
the photographic process got its name.
