There's a difference between metering and focusing. The spot
metering can work perfectly and it's still possible to get blurry,
out of focus images. Check your manual. It should explain the
different methods your Cybershot uses to focus. Generally, cameras
do better when the focusing system has clearly defined horizontal or
vertical lines, or high contrast regions to deal with. These may be
hard to find in landscape scenes.
You might try to find some distant object that lends itself to
focusing even if it's not the intended subject. Pre-focus on that
object and then re-aim the camera so that your intended landscape is
properly framed. Your camera may also have a landscape mode that
automatically sets the focus correctly for distant objects, but that
may not be true for all cameras.
