No wet-mounting on an Imacon, David. They're not
drum scanners, in spite of their (misleading) ad copy.
They are very good CCD-based film scanners, to be
sure. But realistically? Not much better than your
Nikon or mine, from what I can see.

Here we agree. Particularly with K/M bowing out of
the market, Nikon might be a good choice for the OP.
The Coolscan V ED is $550 at BH Photo. Canon may
still make them, and at the low end there's Pacific Image
(www.scanace.com.)
