Canon s80

I just started getting around to replacing my beloved Canon s60, only
to find out that the 'new' s80 has been discontinued and is getting
increasingly rare. Worse, some are saying that there is no planned
replacement!

Does anyone know if there is/is not any plan at Canon to make a new
s-series? If no, are there any other cameras out there that are
compact and well-made that can shoot in 'full manual' mode? This is
very depressing - I thought that the s60 was the perfect pocket camera.
