I need help for problem with camera - sony cybershot dsc-f..

I have a sony cybershot dsc-f717 and when I pulled it out after a few
months of not using it, it suddenly isn't working properly. The
picture shows out of focus with the colors off and running sort of no
matter what it's set to.

Either something went haywire, or a control got set accidently. Can
anyone give me some hints of what to look at that might be set wrong,
or should I take it to a repair shop?

Have you checked for the infamous Sony sensor recall? As I recall, that
pretty much describes the symptoms - can't imagine what setting would do
that.
