DNG is PS standard, and the GX10 comes now with Silverfast, which gives
excellent control (and the Samsung RAW converter). >> Stay informed about: should i buy a pentax k10d? |

Have never had a K1000, as a features freak I went straight to the KM (still
use one occasionally) and I have had a K10D since the end of last Novemeber,
they are seriously good you will like it. >> Stay informed about: should i buy a pentax k10d? |

Having rechecked, ACR support is not in the current version but in
the next version, to be released later this month. Silkypix and Bibble
supports it, but just recently. Last time I checked most of the
others, like Rawshooter, DxO, SharpRAW, ACDSee and Picasa do not.
Adobe Lightroom and Apple Aperture do not.
At this point most raw processing software does not properly read K10D
files. It's a good bet that all will eventually. >> Stay informed about: should i buy a pentax k10d? |

TRy the White Balance settings on DNG files from the K10D and tell me
it is correctly reading them. Not all DNG diles are created equal. The
RAW software has to be able to read the info from the file and K10D
DNGs are different than others. >> Stay informed about: should i buy a pentax k10d? |

It is a good camera if you have a lot of Penatx lenses to use. I had
one but found the Pentax flash P-TTL oferings were much inferior ro
Nikon's equivalents. The selection of lenses specifically for the
Pentax DSLRs is pretty limited although apparently more are on the
way. The SR system works great and you can get really nice results
from RAW mode.if you want to spend some time with software. As
dpreview pointed out the jpg results aren't great. Overall it was a
tough call but I went to Nikon.

That's perfectly normal. Software developers are always playing catch-up
when it comes to decoding new RAW formats. It may take some weeks or it may
take some months, but eventually a new version of the software will be
released which supports the new format (as long as the software isn't dead
like RawShooter, and as long as the camera is sufficiently popular for there
to be a demand for it of course). >> Stay informed about: should i buy a pentax k10d? |

I think many RAW processing software companies were waiting to see if
the K10D would be popular enough. Some have never developed for other
than Nikon and Canon. >> Stay informed about: should i buy a pentax k10d? |
