sony dsc-p72 digital camera broken - need fix

I broke my Sony dsc-p72 digital camera by dropping it. When you press
the power button it starts the power on chime but then promptly shuts
off. It doesn't open the lens or light the lcd. There is a red LED in
the memory stick bay that flashes 2 short flashes. I figured it was
doing some power-on test and knew something was wrong so it was
shutting down. I bought another one for parts. The second one had a
jammed zoom, which I found had a little metal pin out of place that I
put back. Now this camera (which I thought I had repaired) is doing
the same behavior as my original one. It starts to chime, flashes 2
red flashes on the LED, and promptly powers off. Is the red LED
telling me what is wrong? How do I fix either one of these?
