It depends on the type of date stamp you want. Do you mean that
you want to change the date stored in the image's EXIF data? If so,
there's software that can do it, but I'm not familiar enough with it
to even know its name. It has been recommended by people in this
newsgroup from time to time, so someone else should be able to
identify it for you.
If you want to overwrite the actual image with date information,
there might possibly be software that could do it, but it wouldn't
be wise, since the change would be permanent and you might someday
want to make prints that weren't marred by the date. What's much
more common is to use software that can be configured to date stamp
not the actual images, but the prints that you make from them.
IrfanView is one of many programs that can do this, and it's free.
Many printers come with drivers that can also embed dates on prints
that they make. I have a small Epson 4" x 6" printer that can date
stamp its prints this way, using the print driver. But it can also
do this without using a print driver or even needing to be attached
to a computer, since it can make prints by reading the images either
directly from a memory card, or by being connected with a cable to
PictBridge compatible camera.
