i went ahead and upgraded my nikon d80 ( got $800 for it) to a
used nikon d220 ( paid $999 )..question, should i worry about what
version software the 200 body is runing, or worry bout checking the
nikon support web site for any changes and/or upgrades? or are the
d200's just "come as they are" out of the box..." so to say " ?

thanx......

Go ahead & upgrade. I've done it on my D200 with no problem.

The changes were minimal & really not noticeable in my applications, though.

Too bad.... just a couple more months & you could have had a D300.

It's most likely that many people reading this have successfully
downloaded and installed firmware upgrades with no problem. However,
most times this is a one way process and personally I approach such
things with caution observing the old adage 'if it ain't broke don't fix
it'. Find out what any potential upgrade is buying you then decide.

Since the only real place to get the updates is the nikon site, you need to
look there for info.
