Having difficulty copying Digital pictures
to CD or DVD. If I take one shoot of digital
pictures I have no problem burning to CD or DVD.
I have a problem burning when I take different
pictures from different folders.
The digital pictures from camera always have a
DSC_ then a number. eg DSC_0009
Pictures i took with my film 35mm and were burned to
CD by processing company just have numbers eg 000120008
and when I try to burn the DSC_0009 and the 000120008
to the same Cd or DVD it as its loading the pictures
it states CANNOT RECOGNIZE just for certain pictures.
All the pictures are .JPEG. The film .JPEGS have a
different resolution.
How can I burn ANY combination of pictures I choose
providing they are all .JPEG?
Thank you in advance

Just a Guess! But try copying all of the pictures of interest to a
single folder on your desktop. Then tell your software that you want to
copy all of the images in that folder to your CD or DVD.

While this doesn't exactly answer your question, it does
address a problem you are having. You might consider
renaming your digital pictures so they are at least a bit
more meaningful. I use PIE (Picture Information Extractor)
to rename them based on the embedded EXIF date/time
stamp. For example my picture DC_060922_10_22_03.jpg
was shot on Sept, 22, 2006 at 10:22:03 AM. They also
sort by time that way also. There are also free utilities to
do the same thing. Also, in your camera to avoid getting
duplicate numbers when you copy them over to the computer,
look a the option most cameras have to NOT reset the
numbering sequence each time you start a new card etc.
As far as your error message goes, see if you can figure out
the pattern of which pictures it does not like. Which software
are you using that is giving you the "CANNOT RECOGNIZE"
message ??

What software if any are you using to burn the CDs?

Sounds like the similarity in file names is confusing your
software. Try renaming those files, or putting them in
folders separate from the ones with similar names. >> Stay informed about: How do I copy to CD or DVD |

When they're burned to the CD or DVD, is it into a folder, or to
what is known as the "root directory" of the CD/DVD. If the latter,
you may be exceeding a "total number of files" limit, which would go
away if they were burned to a folder. If you try burning a small
number of mixed files, say less than 100, (DSC_#### and 000######)
does it burn successfully or do you get the same CANNOT RECOGNIZE
error message? >> Stay informed about: How do I copy to CD or DVD |

Just open K3B, drag the photos you want into the project folder, and tell
it to burn.
Assuming you're running Linux, of course. >> Stay informed about: How do I copy to CD or DVD |

Thank you all for your kind interest in my
burning problem.
After much time trying I seem to have solved
my problem, hopefully not just for now, by
using Nero to burn the files to DVD and CD.
The problem I was having was when I used the
Windows XP burning program. I wonder how many
folk out there are just using the Windows XP
program to burn without any problems?
Thank you all for your input.

I have not had any problems, but my needs have been rather basic.

I learned to hate the Win XP CD software. Nero is much,
much better. >> Stay informed about: How do I copy to CD or DVD |
