This probably isn't the right place to ask, but I can't find better just now.
I need to do something simple in Photoshop CS2.
I want to open a group of raw files and process them all the same.
That is, open a raw (Canon) file, apply a simple .xmp recipe to it,
rotate it, and save it as a 16 bit TIFF. I already have the recipe file.
Exactly what sequence of things do I need to do to do this? I simply
can't figure it out. The Adobe Raw seems to block certain needed
things.
How do I record the needed "actions" in camera raw? Etc???

You can't. The best you can do is apply the settings to one
image then use "Save settings..." to write a .xmp file to
use on other images. The "save" settings like TIFF, 16-bit,
etc aren't saved but they're "sticky" so they won't change
once you set them. As far as I know the rotation won't be
saved either, but that's easily done as an action in
Photoshop anyway.

Are you saying that you can't batch convert .CR2 files to
TIFF or JPEG, with a constant .xmp file setting?
I can do this in the Canon raw convertor, it's just not as good.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I said there is no way to
record actions - as in sequences of operations. All you can
do is load/save a .xmp file, but of course you can apply the
current settings (or a loaded .xmp file) to any number of
files.
You do know you can open multiple files simultaneously in
ACR? That's the key to batching raw settings.
