I believe it was Margaret Atwood who wrote the book, "Blind
Assassin," a great story about the blind who were portrayed as
the perfect killers because they had to control their 4 remaining
senses and more perfectly integrate themselves into the world in
order to survive.
That's one of my faves, because it so literally depicts how even
the least respected members of society should be incorporated
into the real world, and, if neglected, nasty, nasty fallout is
inevitable.
Well, there has been a number of rather intolerant folks
harassing and berating less than physically perfect internet
users, spreading hatred, and doing their damndest to demoralize
those who seek to build a more tolerant and beautiful world for
every one.
For just a quick peek at the propaganda proliferating on the net,
divert your attention for a moment from Charlie Sheen and his
Vatican Assassin and Google the following line:
quadriplegic flopping floor dance blind Dudley
Hanks
Read some of the posts that the search finds, and ask yourself if
this is tolerable, even given the right to Freedom of Speach most
countries afford their citizens.
Then, check out the following link:

Now, ask yourself, Which vision of the world do I want to
support?
If you want to work towards a much more comprehensive world, one
in which all citizens are considered with equal respect and given
a fair opportunity to live a happy, fulfilled, productive life,

One only needs to think of the recent economic hardships faced by
able-bodied persons to get a bit of an understanding as to how
tough a time the disabled are having.
The "meritocracy" we all have been taught to believe in just
doesn't work. The more technology that is developed, the more
the less able-bodied become "extra baggage" for the top 15% or
20% of the economy.
We need to start thinking creatively in order to find ways that
can work for those with limited physical and mental capabilities.
Art is one of the best avenues available.
Why?
Because we never tire at seeing things from other perspectives.
We don't always agree with those perspectives, but we want to
view them anyway.
By opening up our pocketbooks and passing on a few bucks to those
who see the world from the most radical perspective, the
disabled, we transform them from welfare drags to productive
members, just that quick. And, the government doesn't have to
compel us to do it either.
Every disabled artist supported is about $50,000 less dollars the
tax department has to collect each year.
If you do nothing at all, at least think about
it.

Nope. Wrong again. They're just revealing you to be the useless, psychotic,
dead-beat-dad, and con-artist that everyone now knows you to be. Trying to
educate you as to why you now appear so pathetically sad to all the world

Is a blind photographer capable of producing something of
interest? Even, of beauty? I think, yes.
Is a blind photographer likely to get hired, commercially? I
think, no.
Think of any job out there, then ask if a sighted person can
do that job faster. Anser, the blind are behind the eightball
for every competitive position out there.
Result: The blind are the last to be hired, hence they need
support, either freely given by the public, or by forcible
government redistribution of wealth.
Suggestion: Allow the blind to do what they do best, at a
speed they can work, and reward their efforts.

I know you are serious. As a fact you will never be a marksman or work
in QC matching colors. But, I can think of many jobs that a blind person
could do better than a sighted person. Those involve use of the other
senses, taste and related smell, plus hearing.
Food tasters with educated palates come to mind. Checking sound quality
also comes to mind.
True there are not that many opportunities and few will give a blind
person a shot, but that is a sad commentary on our society, as a whole.

I find it interesting that many folks jump to the extreme, and
accuse me of "begging" and "looking for sympathy."
In our society, if there is a hungry, unemployed man on the
street asking for spare change to pay for a coffee and a
sandwich, he is labelled a begger, and told to quit looking
for sympathy and to "go get a job," without his acusers ever
taking the time to learn the bloke's history. Take that same
street scene and throw in a well-heeled passer-by who comes up
to you and says, "That fellow over there needs help, could you
spare a bit of change to buy him something to eat," and presto!
the streetperson gets something to eat, and the well-heeled
passerby gets a plaque from the Chambre of Commerce for his or
her work as an advocate, even though he or she pocketed 10% or
15% of the "donation" to cover time spent.
Admittedly, my case is a bit different.
I tell folks up front that I'm not starving, nor is my family.
I'm retired, with an interest for freelance writing /
photography. I explain that any donations I might receive go
entirely to helping me buy equipment I normally wouldn't be
able to afford, or to paying for expenses incurred during a
nature shoot.
Ken Rockwell does much the same thing, and is not looked down
on.
Certainly, Ken isn't quite as blatant in a Usenet post, but,
hey, Usenet is changing.
It is no longer used for academic purposes, with most
educational institutions having opted for private web sites,
ditto for government agencies.
Even giant corporations like Microsoft and software mainstays
like perl are leaving Usenet in droves.
What is left?
A safe haven for ideological freaks like Super Zoom.
I don't know about you, but I'd rather see Usenet used as a
base for artists and savants than for the festering birthplace
of societally incompatible zealots.
I hope members of this group think logically about what I have
said. If they send a donation, fine. If not, fine as well.
The main thing I have ever asked for on this group is feedback,
and I have been soundly rebuked, mocked and belittled for my
efforts. By whom? An entirely bigotted, narrow-minded
virtual Nazi prototype who doesn't even have the courage to
come out of hiding.
Well, I have news for Super Zoom. I'm not going away.
I will continue to post my work on this group, and I will ask
for feedback.
Out of respect for a few of the more sane members of this
group, I will curtail requests for donations, with the
possible adoption of Tony's suggestion of adding a sig line
link to a suitable page on my site. (Thanks Tony for that
suggestion.)
But, I'm not going away.
Those who can't deal with a blind guy shooting pics need to
find some way to deal with it...

Yup!

You *are* begging...asking for a hand-out. Worse, you are asking for
people to support your desire for non-essential hobby accessories.

Whatever the label, he is looking for assistance to buy basic
necessities.

No, Rockwell does not post in newsgroups. His site is available only
if you deliberately go there. Rockwell offers teaching material and
asks for, but does not require, compensation for what he provides.
You do not.

You think?
>It is no longer used for academic purposes,
When was it ever dedicated to academic purposes? In two of the
newsgroups I regularly read, there are numerous posts requesting help
in writing academic papers in proper English.

Institutions have never used Usenet. People use Usenet. They may, or
may not, be affiliated with educational institutions. Many posters in
several groups use .edu addresses.

Dweebus isn't getting anybody to go away.
Rather, Dweebus is getting itself kicked off from many newsreaders. If only
it'd learn not to use certain words in it's snotty replies.
tee hee!
Oh, and good job realizing that your latest chain-pulling on usenet
panhandling for $ does nothing to *it*
