Post subject: Thinking about a used pro Minolta Digital for my lenses, what can I get for $300?
Archived from groups: rec>photo>digital (more info?)

Hello, I've been meaning to sell my 85/1.4 and 50/1.4 minolta AF
lenses, but it struck me the other day that I could pick up a fairly
old digital Minolta that would still be a decent use of my lenses,
instead of just selling them off cheap.

What would you recommend? Its only for fun value really as I've moved
onto a Nikon system. Would like a pro body though.

Dean

Look on eBay. Always lots of barely-used digicams people have
moved up from. Be sure to check the seller's feedback before bidding
- and to read comments, not just numbers, on the feedback. Prices on
these barely-used digicams are FAR below original retail.

No $4 to park! No $6 admission! http://www.INTERNET-GUN-SHOW.com

Ok thanks for that Fred, I'll be keeping an eye open for one. I just
wasn't sure if there were any older models on the market. I guess it
doesn't have to be pro either, actually quite small would be nice!
(Not much room left in the camera bag)

Dean-

As far as I know, there are only two Minolta and one Sony digital bodies
that accept the Minolta AF lenses. Although they are quite good, they
aren't in the same "pro" league as the old Minolta 9000 or 9xi film
bodies. On the other hand, your Nikon equipment may not be "pro" either.

Look for a Minolta 7D or 5D, or a Sony Alpha 100 body. Perhaps you will
find a small Mom-and-Pop camera store that still has a new Minolta 5D in
stock. The older 7D is better, but may be harder to find.

It may be possible to find just a body, but most were sold in a kit with
a lens. If you get one with the zoom lens, you may find yourself using
it more than you use the Nikon!
