rank amateur needs advice on Antarctic trip - I recently bought a Nikon D70 with a Nikon 18-70mm and a Nikon 70-300mm lenses off e-bay. All seems fine and I have taken some good photos - no problems. But I am now going to Antarctic in December and as a once ever type trip I want to make sure I make.

Taking a 20D Under Water - Anyone used a 20D under water? What housing did you use?

Is hi-res + shrink better than taking lo-res? - If i take pictures in 1600X1200 and then shrink to 800X600 is it better quality to just take picture in 800X600 mode?

It's like I'm back in the 60's again, however no drugs this time. The A1
goes pychedelic on me - like the whole picture melted or washed away, or
howizontal lines thru it. not all the time just some. Is there any hope or
repair?

I'll have to get out my A1 and see if it even works after about 20 years.

It was the most SOLID camera I have ever owned and never let me down.

It was my understanding that Minolta did not 'close shop'. They were
bought out by Sony. Hence the 'replace with Sony' tag.

Are you thinking of a Canon A1? Minolta A1's havent been around that long.

There's a known problem with Sony CCDs, your description sounds very
much like the one plagueing a bunch of Sony camcorders & cameras. I
know. I have a camcorder with the problem.

A quick google on 'minolta ccd' brought this up as the first link, the
A1 is included:

Nope. Minolta A1s are definitely on the list of affected cameras.
