Post subject: Olympus Stylus 410 problem
Archived from groups: rec>photo>digital (more info?)

I've had the Olympus Stylus 410 for a couple years now and it has
worked fine. Recently, however, when I turn the camera on ("Shooting
Mode") the LCD monitor on the back of the camera is blank. The icons
that indicate battery strength, flash status, picture count, etc. are
present but that's it. When I flip over to "Review Mode", to look at
pcitures that have already been taken, all is well and the pictures are
displayed just fine. Essentially the camera still "works', i.e. I take
pictures, they get stored on the camera and I can review them, but the
active LCD monitor normally shown in Shooting Mode is no longer
working.

I have poured over the manual and the Internet to make sure I have not
accidently disabled it somehow (the setup and options interface on this
camera is one of the most confusing and poorly designed interfaces I
have ever seen) but that does not appear to be the case.

Any feedback, tips, comments, suggestions, emotional support is/are
appreciated.

Thanks,

\cbf

Hi...

I have many Oly's, but not your model... so I can't offer
much more than emotional support.

I've never seen on any of them the symptom you describe, but it
might be a worthwhile trick to try removing the batteries, leave
them out for several hours which will automagically reset
everything to the factory defaults.

I've never tried reducing the lcd brightness to it's lowest
level - wonder if that turns it right off?

Take care

Ken
