I ordered a 18-200 VR Nikon lens from Amazon in May and they kept asking me
to let them extend the order delivery time and I allowed it each time....now
they have cancelled the order!

Does anyone know where one can buy this lens without paying a 50% mark up
and it be delivered rather promptly?
Many thanks

Unless you insist on the Made in USA stamp, they are readily available in
Canada and I presume just about anywhere else. I have had mine for months.

Rudy the lens is made in Thailand.

I am aware of that, I have one right here. I also understand there is a USA
version.

None have been made in the USA. Some early ones were made in Japan. There
may be USA serial numbers, but there is no USA version.

Though looking at my box I see nothing to indicate the serial number being
USA specific.

They are NOT readily available in Canada. Most shops are in perpetual
backorder since the lens was announced. The VR 105 Micro Nikkor is also
unavailable, as will be the 75~300 VR.

There is a "USA version" which refers to the import channel. There
are none MADE in the USA.

I think the problem is that if you buy a Nikon product without a USA
serial number you have to send it out of the country for any warranty
service rather than take it to your local camera shop.
