Sosumi,

I think this Lexar card, although expensive, is a fantastic card.
Very fast. Perhaps even faster than the similar from SanDisk.

I think $38 for 8GB CF with free shipping is a normal price. E.g.,

http://www.meritline.com/adata-8g-cf-card-speedy.html

(I'm using meritline often, but know nothing about A-Data).

Hope this helps,

Amazon isn't even the cheapest, but I've found them to be pretty reliable.
So what were you saying?

magically make your HD really small and put it inside your camera.

Which actually is pretty easy and has been around as CF micro drives for
several years.

With flash memory becoming cheaper, and smaller, I suspect that some
cameras on the low price end will dispense with the flash card slots and
just include 4GB flash memory in the camera soon. That and a Wi-Fi
connection would work wonders for convenience. Pictures could go
directly to the computer if near one's wireless router.

Actually a 40GB microdrive was recently announced, and then the 48GB Pretec
compact flash card was announced Smile

I see that the 2 Gig USB thumb drives have been advertised for under AUD$30
though, not bloody bad.

And the CF micro drives were an option for some time, but now they
just don't offer much over a CF flash card. I see at B&H you can still
buy a 4GB microdrive for $125, I wonder how many of those they are
selling.

By the time you can a hard drive down to the size of a CF card it just
does not have room for much storage. The biggest microdrive is
something like 8GB and cost over $200.

Scott

IPODs use a tiny 160Gb drive now but I am guessing the speed is not so high,
probably useable for many situations though and with a nice big fat, fast
flash memory buffer could work.
