I bought an SP-510UZ just before they announced the 550.
I like it in most respects: lots of shooting modes and manual controls,
big zoom range, good battery life. Have gotten some great shots with it.
A few of the things I don't like might also affect the 550. A few times
I've been out shooting and found the camera forgot how to zoom in and
out, had to do a camera reset. High-ISO shots are noisy, of course. It
can be quite a pain to find a specific adjustment because the menu
structure is not so intuitive. Uploading from camera to computer is
slow. Manual focus is pretty useless as implemented. And I found out too
late that if you shoot in shutter-priority mode, the narrow aperture
range won't be able to deal with big changes in light level and the
camera won't warn you if your exposure will be way off (possibly a
common problem).
