No, not another date or time change, just a question for all the AFP
members here. I've been going through my travel photos, and I'm having a
hell of a time selecting just three. Honestly, I didn't realize how many
bad travel photos I had until I started looking for this mandate.

Anyone else having trouble paring it down to three? I swear I could
increase the number of submissions to 100 per shooter and I'd still want
to add a few more. I guess when you've shot a photo of a dog's grave,
anything is possible for bad photos. Yes, I really did...

You are aware that the "Bad travel" shots was suggested as a snipe at
John Sisker, who did his damage in alt.photography?

After enduring a year of the Sisker travel galleries let's just keep it
at three. You wouldn't need to pick any of the shots you took, just
pick any three Sisker shots from his years worth of submissions.

I chose three that weren't "atrocious" but merely, bad, in the sense
that I wish I could have another shot at that shot. If it were
"atrocious" I would still be searching. The "rating" system in Bridge
does not have a -ve star system alas.

And of course I didn't even bother looking in old film (slides/prints)
where the treasure trove of candidates for really, really bad would be
extreme. 100 you say? Hah!

Shoot, I totally forgot about bad shots from an airline seat! I've got
some real trash there, too. But it's too late. You've already cornered
the market.

I'm going to be a LOT careful with my suggestions from now on.

But, it is actually an intriguing category. I kind of like Alan
Browne's take. Maybe something that is "bad" in some way, but
otherwise slightly interesting. Like, say, Barstow:

Aah! You captured the scenic side of Barstow.

I think you said, when announcing the mandate, that we were supposed
to say why we thought it was bad and what we would have done
differently. How? In the email submitting it, do we add lines of
comment?

Hey! If it is bad I think it should be obvious to all why it is bad.
Why would we have to spell out the obvious?
Perhaps a few words regarding the circumstances of the shot.

Perhaps like some of the "Awkward Family Photos" no explanation should
be necessary.

You know me, Duck. I always follow the rules. Bowser's instructions
said: "Tell us when and where you took it, and what went wrong."

You have quoted a suggestion, not an instruction.
All that is said on the "Rulzpage" is the following:
"We all have them. Show us your travel shots that, well, don't meet
National Geographic standards. NOTE: archive shots are accepted for
this mandate!"

Yes, put some lines in the email and I'll paste them into

I was and am aware that it was posed as a joke, but I liked
it! Something we can have some fun with, no question about
it. And that Barstow shot is classic.

I think that should be left for discussion. IAC, my phots are in (ain't
archive nice) w/o description of the issues, those should be evident enough.
