Archived from groups: rec>photo>digital (more info?)

Hi,

I have got an HP Pavilion laptop computer running Windows XP with a 6 in 1
digital media slot.

Using a XD card is fine with this built in card reader but it doesn't seem
to recognise a regular sized SD card. The card reader light comes on but the
computer just freezes briefly until the card is taken out. Putting the card
into the slot also seems rather forced.

Am I inserting the card properly, do I perhaps need to insert the card in
upside down or do I need a software upgrade?

I would be grateful for any help.

Some readers have multiple slots, and others have multi-card slots. It
is possible to insert a card improperly in such slots. If this is the
problem, you might consider another reader. Are you sure the card is good?

I would try turning the card over. No reason it
should not work with WinXP (no special driver
required).

But do push it in gently Wink
