Hi:
I've got a Canon S400. Several years old. Took beautiful pictures
until recently. Now, images on the LCD and on the stored pictures are
barely recognizable -- highly distorted, not quite purely blurry. In
addition, there's a heavy purple hue over the entire picture (also
both on the stored pics and through what shows up on the LCD). With
the distortion, I was thinking a lens element might be out of place.
But with the purple, I don't know. Sensor problem? Would a lens
element be able to cause a heavy purple hue? I don't have any example
pics to show yet. Though, I could post some. Not much to see
really. It's just a purple, distorted mess. Any insight?
Thanks.

Dunno - could be the sensor - it's on the list of affected models....

Free fix I believe.

Thanks!

Bates, Bruce:
Thanks for the reply. We got the camera back from Canon today and it
is FIXED and was repaired FREE. Using their terminology on the work
order, they said that they replaced the optical assembly. The camera
came back clean as a whistle and is as good as new. Nice. Thanks
very much for the information.

Hey Kevin,
Great news. Good to hear they honoured their word to fix the recalled
camera. Way better than having to pay to fix it or have it replaced.
