Hi

I am buying Canon Powershot S3 IS. However, I am confused as to which
memory card to buy. I want to buy one 1GB SD memory card.

(Regarding me - I am no hi-fi user. I am a normal user using digicams
for 2 yrs now and like to take high zoom photos. I am planning to learn
some photography since I will have a camera with many features).

I read that SanDisk Ultra || would suffice for Canon S3 IS. (Exterme is
not needed). However, there are many brands available which are lesser
known than SanDisk, Lexar, Panasonic etc. But these provide higher
speed memory at lesser price. E.g. Ritek RiData 150x, AData, PQI etc.
(any many more)

What is your opinion about these lesser known brands? Has anyone used
them and can share the experience? Can you give me some advice?

Thanks in advance
Amit Dedhia

Thanks and best regards

As I bought my S3 last month. I had the same question.
Unfortunately I couldn't find so far any information about the access time to
the SD card.
Now I'm using a 1GB SanDisk Standard Card (blue).

My main advice is to avoid purchasing the SD card from Ebay.

Apart from that, stick to well known brands. Oh, I would suggest a 2 gig card rather than 1 gig.

Peter - What is your experience with Standard SanDisk 1 GB card? Have
you tried burst mode and video shoots?

He should get over 300 pics with a 1gb card at highest settings, so it's
a question of if he needs more.

if card can handle about 15x speed, then it's ok for all. Note that video in
highest setting requires about 1.4-1.5Mbytes per second. Burst mode is not
that depandant.
