On the fly" doesn't have to mean in a hurry.
I've run very complex and high-level ProShow videos on computer
projectors...straight from the live preview within the program. It's live
rendering is actually superior to the resolution of DVD video, so it's great
to have a program that can render at full quality, and in real time. Some
other programs require slow churning-out of the file before it looks
good/smooth.

prepared presentation, but if you love PP, more power, etc.

For some years now I've used a program called "My Slide Show". I think it
does all that you want, and easily burns the show onto a CD-ROM which will
run the show on Windows computers without additional software.

i use the DVD Slideshow Builder which is easy to create a customized
DVD slide show with photos and videos, and you can add music,
transitions, motion effects and make beautiful DVD menus., i like it
very much.
