I have just downloaded and installed RawShooter 2006 1.0
and want to try processing RAW. Now I know RawShooter is
not Photoshop nor Capture 4.4 nor other sophisticated software.

As I understand it to process Nikon RAW you can only use
Capture software ant not Essentials v5 nor Photoshop.

I just want to try my hand at processing RAW for now.
I have a Nikon D70s with a Nikkor 18-70 lens and have
always used JPEG.

Any tips from those who use RawShooter as to what to
expect and what not to do.

Your input much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi.

I do not know where you got your information from, but it is wrong.

Photoshop CS2 can convert Nikon NEFs from the D70s, once the Adobe Plugin,
ACR, has been downloaded and installed.
Some NEFs can also be converted using Ps CS, with its Plugins.

Raw Shooter Essentials can certainly do the job, and there are those who
prefer its conversion over Ps.

If you have or had installed the Nikon software, you will need to remove the
Nikon Plugins from the Adobe Plugin Folders, otherwise they will not allow
the Adobe Plugins to work.

Ed, do you know where one can download v1.2?
Googled but cannot find a site to download.

Alan, have spent a few hours using RawShooter and it
seems to work well. This is my first try at RAW however.

One thing I cannot seem to get it to do is crop. Perhaps
it does not have this feature. Also the extensive notes
does not seem to indicate that there is a cropping feature.

The D70s was officially supported in ACR 3.2, and unofficially
supported in ACR 3.1, hence direct support is CS2 (and CS3!) only.

The way of handling it using CS (using ACR 2.4) is via the DNG route.
