Hi,
Recently I purchased a set (6) of inks (super size, 77 series) from
the Epson store for ~ $122 to use with my R380 printer. Yesterday, I
found two other sources for these inks (regular size). Best Buy has
the 78 series for $15.99 (each of six), and Office Max has them for
$12.99 each. Costco (Bend, Oregon) doesn't have the 77, 78 series of
inks.
A local reinking shop doesn't refill the empty 77, 78 Epson series
cartridges.
The R380 is described as "having 6-color inks producing
microscopically small droplets of Claria Ultra Hi-Definiion ink".
Maximum resolution is 5760 x 1440 dpi. I must say, the output prints
are great. Also, the maximum paper size is 8.5" x 44". Now there goes
the ink bill!
I'm not sure that the R380 does 8.5" x 44" easily (or, maybe that's
what that extra plastic piece is for. No, I can't figure out how to
attach it to printer.
I paid $90 (new) for the R380.
At least I found two shops (above) that carry replacement ink(s) in an
emergency.
Best,

Surely, it is the holder for printig CD's and DVD's? There must be a manual
in the box or on the CD which tells you how to use it. I use mine all the
time, it is one of the best features of this model! (Don't try to print onto
a plain CD, you need specially coated Cd's for this purpose, or you can buy
the plain CD labels and use these.)

One would also find the manual online at the manufacturer's web site. >> Stay informed about: R380 Epson Inks |

That sounds quite reasonable. My Canon Pixma iP 4300 has 5 tanks,8 series (13
ml)and 5 series that cost 16 euros each with taxes.

Could it be they have a little chip that makes impossible the refilling,
like mine Canon printer?

Why did you have to buy all 6 cartridges?I usually run out of magenta(X3),
then goes cyan(X2),then yellow(once).Black for documents I have changed
once, and in 6 months never black for photos.

Here, we have Makro, but you need a car to go there, and I don't
drive....Anyway, I get taxes back because I always buy and get an invoice.

Conrad,
The best price at retail currently is at Ritz. Bend has a new shop
AFAIK.
Beware of third party inks in general. For a quality replacement
search for Media Street Co - they are one of very few quality cloners.
