I was looking on the box of the Photoshop Elements 5.0 and it has that a
Pentium 4 processor is needed.
If someone with knowledge of AMD Athlon TM processor (of which I have)
could possibly let me know if it will work with the mentioned software?
Thank You.

Uh, yes, it would. Intel's greatest achievement has been in marketing.

I have a 5 year old machine with an Athlon 1900+ and 512mb ram.
Photoshop CS2 runs ok. It is most probably slower than more powerful
computers, but it still runs ok with no long waits.

Full Photoshop has always run fine on AMD processors; currently CS 2 on
an Athlon here for me.

I am running PSE 5 on...

Computer: HP Pavilion a1657c
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core
RAM: 2GB

Haven't had any problems, and it runs fast and efficiently.

I have used Elements 5 on a Pentium 4 with 2Gb of RAM and Celeron (not sure
which) with 0.5Gb of RAM. It was fine on the Celeron (slower of course) and
Elements 5 is not a reason to buy a new machine.

Yes. I have run it on several AMD processors, including Athlon and
Athlon 64 (currently). It runs on both just fine. Note it will take
advantage of the new dual core processors as well.
