Hmm. I've been happy with the older version 3.x.y with the 8000. The new
version with the 9000 is supposed to be quite a bit better for scanning
negatives. (Which isn't a big deal here, since I mostly shoot Provia 100F.)

Vuescan will work, but it doesn't do thumbnails, and so you have to figure
out the displacements of the two (not 3 or 4 for 6x6 or 645) scan windows
for preview and full scan. It was too much of a pain for me.

Yuck. Are you using Win XP? I've not had any trouble under XP with it.
