Bought a Seagate Microdrive 4gb today, tried to format it in my Nikon
D-70, but the camera will not format the drive. Keep getting a "cannot
use this card" error message when I try to format the drive.

Any ideas how to solve this??
Thanks,

Mark

Well you need to go back to the specs.
Just for fun, I formatted a 256mb card at fat32 in the computer, and it
seemed to write/read ok in my canon A95. Of course, this was just an
experiment, fat32 isn't recommended for drives lower than 512mb but 256mb is
the biggest card I have. I didn't try to fill the card so I can't say all
was well, just what I have stated.
The point of all this is you could try formatting using fat32 in the
computer. Note, the maximum size partition that can be formatted at fat16 is
2 gb.
If it write/reads then you could probably use it, but it may quit at less
than full capacity. You've nothing to lose and if you can't get it to work
try to exchange for smaller cards. No doubt Nikin D-70 owners will advise
what cards do work.

Thanks for your reply, Dave. I really don't want anything other than
the camera to format this Microdrive.

I have found, though, this microdrive which Outpost.com sent me, has a
different model number from the one I ordered, this model is not
listed on Seagate's tech support webpage as being supported by my D-70.
That might be my problem! Thanks again for your post, though.

Mark

A little more research, namely, tech support at Seagate.com, tells me
that my drive is in fact the correct one, just the "retail kit" model
number is different, which is fine.

Problem is, the drive still will not work in my Nikon D70 camera.
Anyone else have any ideas how to get this drive to interface with my
camera??

Thanks,

Mark

Nikon d70 Seagate microdrive as a google search term yeilded a large number
of negative accounts about this.

Get your money back I'd say.
