Hi, all

It's been about a month since I used the mode dial on my camera...but
it worked fine then! Today I tried to move it to select the video
mode and the mode dial won't move at all.

Is it broken, or have I inadvertently pressed something that has
caused the dial to lock?

Thanks for any help.

Greetings Traveler,

More than likely the issue is with something getting on or around the mode
dial. If that happens and the material hardens, it locks the mode dial in
place. It would not be the first time that something from fingers, or a drop
of something caused this to happen.

Most of the time it is something that happens without you being aware. But,
when you return to the camera it has a problem. Of course, it may be
something else, but I would look at it carefully (use a loop or other
optical device for a close review). You can always have the camera serviced
if necessary, but noting if something is on it may help.

Let me know how you make out and if you find anything.

Try a cuetip with some alcohol around it. Even a little drop of coffee, pop
etc. can leave a residue (sugar) that'll make it stick fairly "hard".
Happened with my Fuji once after dribbling some coffee on it, moment of
panic but alcohol dissolved the dried sugar np.
