Looking for good easy-to-use slideshow software (for DVD's), I
downloaded the 15-day trial version of ProShow Gold. This evening, I
made my first DVD. Although the software was very easy to use, I find
that the slideshow audio cuts in and out when playing the DVD on my
progressive-scan DVD player. However, when playing it on either the PC
that created the DVD or on my cheapo DVD player in the bedroom, it runs
just fine.

Can anyone help me out with what might be causing this? Is there some
kind of option that I need to select?

Can anyone point me to another newsgroup or web forum that might address
this?

Thanks!

Cutting out like that likely has little to do with ProShow, and more to do
with your burner or burner/computer set-up. Are you using DVD-R? You
should. +R will work on some, but I've found that -R is more compatible .
You might also want to try having ProShow create an .iso file (DVD image
file) and then use your burner's software to burn the disk. To do
this...you select disk image instead of the DVD drive from within ProShow.

There are a number of DVD players on the market that simply do not handle
home-burned DVDs reliably...but again...I've found (after burning literally
THOUSANDS of DVDs for wide distribution using ProShow Gold and ProShow
Producer) that it's usually a burner quality issue.

Last suggestion would be to limit the burning speed to 2x or 4x. This will
usually give you a higher quality burn. I've seen DVD disks where you can
literally SEE the lightness of the "burn" in portions of the disk, which
indicates a burner problem as well.

PS. -Nothing beats a Plextor DVD burner for these kinds of jobs...
Specifically, the Plextor PX-760A or newer. Nothing compares, save for
perhaps the higher-end Pioneer drives. Sony, Memorex and others simply
don't compare.

Mark,

Thanks for that detailed reply. I am using DVD-R's (Staples Brand), and
my burner is a Sony DRU-510A -- one of the earliest +/- burners on the
market.

I'll try your suggestions and also post to the boards mentioned by the
other people who reposnded to my post.

Thanks Everyone!
