Damn I must be good.

Everything on my pages, including the affiliate links, work just fine
with Proxomitron turned on.

The only filter in Proxomitron that has any effect is "Frame Exploder"
because the domain name forwards to my web hosting company and the
actual content is in a full page frame. With "Frame Exploder" enabled,
nothing displays other than:

<!--//-->

<!-- pageok -->

<!-- 04 -->

<!-- 7.0-->

Of course if I go direct to the actual web address of the page, it works
fine. I could easily get around the frame issue if I wanted to spend
more money on hosting,

I normally don't leave Proxomitron turned on because it's a security
risk to have everything go through a proxy server.

In any case, it's a good program if for nothing more than ensuring that
it has little or no effect on a page. It encourages good web page design
to ensure that its filters don't have any effect.

Why did you run?

I notice that both Express Camera and Best Price Cameras are
supposedly selling the Canon 40D for $799.
It might be interesting to call them up and ask a few questions about
that rock-bottom price.

I didn't actually run. I walked back to the car and had my friend leave
right away. Three guys that are half my age can easily take my camera from
me and cause other problems.

Here is an example of how the place operates:

LOL, they probably thought you were either hired by a lawyer that was
representing a disgruntled customer, or that you were from the state
attorney general's office.

"http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Express_Cameras"

Yet apparently there is no shortage of naive customers. The same people
that believe that complaining to the BBB has an effect on anything.

Hi Rita,

Well, I don't need the money to run the site. At least not at this time.
But money is nice to have and would defray my camera expenses. And, as you
know, there are always Nikon lenses to covet.

Someone today wanted to make a PayPal donation. My Brooklyn pictures had
saved her from what would have undoubtedly been a bad experience. So I
figured out how to add a donate link to my index pages. You can find it
hidden down in the lower right of the page.

The affiliate links don't cost the reader anything, it's the retailer
that pays the commission as an advertising expense.

I've gotten donations to my page via Amazon's donate link and it's a lot
of trouble to manage because they want a checking account link, which
I'm reluctant to provide. For normal commissions, Amazon provides a
credit every quarter.

I became a B&H affiliate as well. Their affiliate program must be rather
new, I remember looking for an affiliate program a while back and
couldn't find one.

The commissions are nice to have, and defray the costs of running
informational sites. As you said, there's always another lens to buy.

One thing isn't clear. At Amazon.com they clearly state that you cannot get
a commission on your own purchases. Is this also true at B&H?

Anyone providing a good service of any kind deserves to be able to ask
for a voluntary donation or even outright payments as is the case with
company like Carfax, etc..
Unless you start selling 1G memory cards for $275. Smile
