All the same, seeking an explanation as to why Adobe products should be
many factors higher than competitive products is not an unreasonable
question.

Because they've become, over time, the standard by which
all other graphics editors are rated.

Because Adobe was the first to push color management into
the marketplace -- and took some hard knocks for doing that.

Because they were the first with alpha masks, layers, filters,
actions, plugins, "history," multiple color spaces, soft-proofing,
selection modes, blending modes, curves, channel mixers, etc.

Because Photoshop integrates nicely with other graphics apps
like GoLive, Illustrator, InDesign, Camera Raw, and Bridge.

There's a reason why 80% of the graphics-related books
in the computer section of your local bookstore have
"Photoshop" in the title. And when they reference tools or
terminology chances are good that the tools and terminology
will be Adobe's.

When asked by a reasonable person and not by an incorrigible
troll. In such cases Rafe's reply is not only warranted but should
be required. Have you been napping?

No, the sock puppets make themselves up, to seemingly add numbers
to a tiny minority that has a distorted view of reality. You now
