When taking disks with pictures to a photo center (like in Walmart) do
the pictures print instantly or do you have to wait an hour or a couple
days?

I just got a digital camera so I'm new to all this. I know 35mm film
can be done in an hour. It seems like digital pictures should be
printed much quicker as there's nothing to develop.

if you take them to an actuall wal-mart photo center, and run them
through thier machine - it will take on hour - they still have to wait
in line - becouse tehy are printed in the same machine as the film.

As Scptt said, if you take them in you wait about an hour. If they
have nothing going on, maybe 15 minutes. It uses the same machine (for
film, it scans the negative and prints it).

However, you usually two other options. First off, you can go to their
website and upload the pictures. Then drive to the store to pick them
up. That way, you trip in is part of the wait.

Also, they usually have a machine off to the side that lets you insert
a card or CD and make the prints yourself. It usually has a scanner on
top, too, for duping pictures. It them prints them out of the bottom
of the same machine. It's a little more expensive but the print
quality is usually better. It is also about a 2 minute wait.

You have to wait at least for an hour if they print them at location,
because they still use regular photosensitive RA-4 paper for printing and
several days if they don't process thrm themselves but send them to someone
else to do it for them.
