I got some photo paper and printed a photo. The paper was nice and
glossy when it was blank, but when the ink was printed, it looked like
it was printed on regular paper. What am I doing wrong? I did not see
any settings in "Preferences" that would help. I printed it from
Photoshop, if that matters. Please help!
Thanks,

Might you have printed on the back side, this is pretty easy to do.

Nope, sounds like you have it the right way around.

I guess the obvious question is; what kind of printer. Go into the printer
setup and look for paper source or type, you then can make photo paper the
default and there should not be a problem.

With my Epson Stylus C80, the ink is not glossy when it dries. So if
you print on glossy paper and then hold the result to catch a
reflection, it really doesn't look like a photographic print. I don't
print enough to worry about it, but if I did I think I'd have prints
made on real photographic paper at Wal-Mart or Costco. It can be less
expensive and the quality can be better.

Hi...
If he still hasn't found it; what he might consider doing is tell us
the printer type and model - then whichever of us has the same can
offer more specific step-by-step help.
Take care.

Could be as simple as picking the right paper in the driver, this
controls how the ink is layed down on the paper.
Also could be a paper mismatch. Epson printers and HP and visversa
usually don't work. Epson C-8X printers didn't perint on glossy paper
until the C-86 and then it needs a special Epson paper.
Best suggestion to start is to get paper from the printer manufacturer
and follow instructions for that paper, once that is mastered then
start looking for other papers. Using big box store papers can greatly
reduce life expectancy from some printers. Yes the printer manufacturer
papers are more expensive but using them is a way to be sure you are
getting the most out of your printer.

You have to set the paper type in the printer driver. You should see a
printer setup button at some point between when you select "Print" in
Photoshop and the image starts printing.

Is your printer actually a 'Photo Printer' using photo inks, or are you
putting photo paper through a 'bog standard' inkjet printer?
