I am not surprised to see older models like the Canon 350D appearing in this
way. However, to see the K10D on ebay suggested to me that it was about to
be superseded, and I wondered if anybody knew. If the replacement model
just had more pixels in the same size sensor (probably = more noise), for
example, I might consider going for the current one at a good enough price,
but most likely not on ebay.

That is often the case, but I have been seeing offers from sellers who
certainly don't look like normal camera dealers, with no reserve and silly
low starting prices. Personally, I would not consider buying from such a
source, not least because the final price is often near the normal retail
price, and not to mention any hope of service under guarantee!
