Synthesis:
Noise level Advantage for s5200(old ccd)
on Panasonic fz7=1,5
on Canon s2= 1,5
on Panasonic fz5=1
on Sony h1=1
on Canon s3=1
on Sony h5=0,5-0,7
on Sony h2=0,5

-----------------And now,see here:

---------------------------------CANON S3

Fuji F30 with new ccd with 6 mpx at 1600 asa:

Canon S3 at 400
asa:http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_s3-review/IMG_0090.JPG

RESULT:Fuji's advantage about 1,5-2 stop

Sony h5 at 400 asa:
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc_h5-review/DSC00075.JPG

RESULT:Fuji's advantage about 1,5 stop

________________________New synthesis

F30's ccd approximatley gain about one stop on old s5200 ccd.
Therefore,new synthesis,with f30's ccd:advantage of noise

on Panasonic fz7=2,5 stop
on Canon s2=2,5 stop
on Panasonic fz5=2 stop
on Sony h1=2 stop
on Canon s3=2stop
on Sony h5=1,5-1,7stop
on Sony h2=1,5 stop

And with a medium IS(2 stop),the difference are:

on Panasonic fz7=4,5 stop
on Canon s2=4,5 stop
on Panasonic fz5=3 stop
on Sony h1=3 stop
on Canon s3=3 stop
on Sony h5=2,5-2,7 stop
on Sony h2=2,5 stop

And with a good IS (3 stop),the difference are:

Unfortunately, your comparison is flawed, as the Fuji does not include
image stabilisation, which is almost essential to successful hand-held
operation of ultra zooms, and the Fuji offers both a smaller zoom range
(38 - 380), and a narrower wide-angle (38mm), than some of its competitors
(e.g 36 - 432, 36mm for the Panasonic FZ5).

Were it not for the poor lens quality, it might be nice for use on a
tripod.

Isn't that the truth! Reviewers and consumers tend to zero in on one or two
statistics, but lose sight of the overall goal of the camera: to produce
images. The image stabilization on the Panny is very effective, and does for
a fact offset the so-called noise advantage of the Fuji. And don't get me
started on those damned xD cards....

When I was in the market for a small pocket cam, I looked at the Fuji, as
well as many other models. I ended up buying the Panasonic FX01 because
overall, it produced the nicest images and was the most versatile. Plus I
loved the wide angle zoom.
