is this flash unit any good? i would ocassionally
use it on a d200 body.....i know very little about
nikon gear....thanx....

it will not work in ttl mode, and in fact, it won't even flash (unless
you hack the pins to fool the camera). and you would need the normal
hotshoe foot for it, not the f3 foot.

however, it will work in either manual mode (where you calculate the
distance and f/stop) or the old style automatic mode, where you match
the f/stop on the camera and the sensor on the flash determines the
exposure.

it is *well* worth getting a nikon sb-400, sb-600 or sb-800, which are
the only nikon flashes that work with ttl on the recent digital slrs.
there are a few non-nikon flashes that will also work, but they don't
fully implement the i-ttl protocol and they aren't really that much
cheaper than the nikon flashes.
