I think you'll love the VR when you finally get around to torture
testing it. I was at the Philly auto show last weekend, which is a
great torture test for VR. Indoors with some low light situations
photographing static objects (cars) close up, without a flash,
handheld, at exposures like 1/15, 1/8, even 1/5 second and focal
lenghts in the 18mm to maybe 30mm, f3.5, ISO 400 most of the time. I
was actually wishing for a wider lens a lot.
I usually take 3-5 shots burst and then view them on the LCD zoomed
all the way in and delete the ones that are not sharp. I was getting
only maybe 1 in 5 sharp shots with no motion blur and wondering what
the *$&# is going on? So I checked and turns out I had accidentally
left the VR off from the day before when I was doing something else,
tripod mounted.
I turned on the VR and then was getting 4 in 5 sharp shots.
