I am impressed by the results of the Movie mode on my new Canon Powershot
A700. However I could only manage a 22 second (about 40mb) clip before the
movie stopped, presumably with a full buffer. This rose to about 30 seconds
with a freshly formatted card. The camera is supposed to be able to use up
to 1gig of memory card in a movie. My memory is 512mb Kinston brand. Would a
high speed card improve the results? Has anyone out there any experience of
this, regards, Bren.

Have you read the manual?

According to Canon, you should be able to record movie clips
slightly longer than 4 minutes if you use a sufficiently fast, high
speed memory card.

I haven't used the movie mode much on my A620 but I just did a continuous
nearly 4 minute long test clip (the batteries died) without a problem using
a PQI 4GB 150X SD card. I'll try an even longer clip just to see if there's
a limit with this high speed card. With 4GB, you can get about 30 minutes
total video. This assumes the "Standard" 640X480, 30fps setting.
