Archived from groups: rec>photo>digital (more info?)

I called Minolta service and tried one last time to rectify a focusing
problem. They had me re set the defaults and remove batteries etc.. I'm
going to give it one more chance before buying the Canon S3 IS.
I purchased the Minolta wide angle converter for $39 and I'll see how it
goes. BUT .......
The directions say to set the camera on the wide angle setting. If done, you
loose all zoom capabilities.
In looking through the lens in the regular lens setup, the camera appeared
to zoom and focus automatically.
Has anyone used the Z1 this way? If so how was the quality of the pictures
zoomed in?
Thanks,
Tim fm CT

Need for wide angle lens - In this day of using software to produce wide angle composits, is there really any need for a wide angle lens? -- There are two ways to spell Ockham/Occam. Britannica prefers the former.
