It's going to be interesting trying to coax that look out of
him again for a more in focus pic with a better background.


Re: the exposure, did it come out as more of a side lit
effect with most of his face in darker shadow? Or was it more
flat?

Just curious if, when he moved forward, the lighting changed
to a more dramatic look than I was after for his portrait.

Actually, the cam was in autofocus mode, single shot
autofocus.

However, you do raise a valid point. Had the cam been set to
AI Server autofocus, it might have reacted quickly enough to
follow him.

When shooting portraits, I normally use single shot AF mode;
I may have to rethink that when shooting animals...

I guess it's side lit from above and to the right, with a fold under his
eye casting a shadow and a shadow in his ear. The whole mouth area is
just black, as are the eyes.

Mich Light - Well, Mich has been to the vet, and I've discovered he's weighing in at about 115 lbs., so he's not exactly a light-weight. But, his personality is so light and bright, I think the label still applies. With that in mind, I took an under-exposed..

Shades of Mich - Mich is a colourful character, so capturing his essence can be a bit tricky at times. However, he's so cooperative, it's almost like working with a human model. Here's a shot I caught of him "sitting pretty." With a bit of code I'm working...

Mich has an attitude... - Sometimes, Mich has a bit of an attitude... Last night, as we were out shooting some pics with that nice little blue bulb, there was some sort of critter scurrying about in the bushes off to the side. With Mich being the (almost) perfectly discipline...

D-50 and Depth of Field preview? - Is anyone else using a D-50? The specs in the book mention a depth-of-field preview under the Lens Aperture catagory. Am I not finding a button somewhere on the camera body or are they just refering to the depth-of-field marks on the Nikkor lenses? I'...
