I have one and there seems to be a great deal of controversy in what
memory you can and can't use in it. Even that Steves site isn't sure.
It takes and comes with XD. It also uses microdrive and CF cards.
Nobody seems to be sure how large of a card this camera can see. Some
cards are harder on the batteries. Some cards may cause the movie mode
not to work. Some cards may kill the panoramic feature. If anyone has
one of these I would appreciate if you could tell me what you use in
yours. I need a larger card and nobody knows what works. Thanks
The Fuji site info hasn't been updated since the camera came out so
it's no help.

I use a 1gb Sandisk Extreme III CF card and also a Fuji 1GB XD Type M
Picture Card. I keep them both in the camera and simply switch between
them depending on what I want to record. I use the CF card for video
and also if I want to do any continuous shooting. The XD card I use for
general picture taking. I find this arrangement works well for me and
I have not noticed any problem with reduced battery life. The only info
I can find regarding the limitations of M and H type Xd cards is here -
http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/accessories/storage%5Fmedia/xdcard%5FtypeM/

I'm not very familiar with the S7000 (I have a Fuji S5100). But
isn't the panorama feature offered by Olympus cameras, not by Fujis?
I know that to be able to utilize the panorama feature with Olympus
cameras, Olympus xD cards must be used. PNY cards also work, but if
you examine the card through the plastic packaging, you can see that
the cards are made by Olympus, and it states in bold print on the
front of the package:

> Panorama function ONLY supported on Olympus digital cameras

This happens to be a type M card, by the way. Newer, type H cards
are now available and they are faster. There can be problems taking
videos with cards that are too slow, but type M cards should be more
than fast enough. After all, the S7000 was sold for several years
before the higher speed type H cards were ever sold. But video eats
up vast amounts of memory, and the larger the card the better.
While I don't know the maximum card size the S7000 can use, it
probably goes up to at least 2GB using CF cards, and it might even
be compatible with 4GB cards, and you want the fastest possible
cards, CF would be what you want. My S5100 was made before 1GB xD
cards were available and the manual only mentions sizes up to 512MB.
But it works fine with 1GB cards, which in my case were made by
Olympus.

Reduced battery life was a problem with some S7000s - like the one I
had - when using a CF card. The battery power drained in no time at
all, the camera was unusable with a CF card. Fuji did offer a fix for
owners with cameras that had this problem.

I can't find it again right now but I did find on
http://www.steves-digicams.com/
someone posted a serial number and said if your S7000 had a higher
serial number
than that it wouldn't have the battery drain problem. Mine is new
enough that it was
about that number.

I had this problem. Fuji UK fixed it in a week for free even though I'd
bought the camera in Japan (where I live)

I just got a Lexar Platinum II CF, 1GB for $49.99 and it seems to work
great just from
testing it. Thanks
