This afternoon, I thought I'd do a little manual test, setting
just about everything manually, except the ISO.

Using audio feedback from the camera, I set the focus manually.
And, using the sunny 16 rule, set the shutter speed and aperture,
opening up the aperture a couple of stops to get that nice, white
snow everybody likes.

I left the ISO set to auto, because I was curious what the XSi
would do. Theoretically, it should have set the ISO to somewhere
around 100 to get the exposure I wanted; it opted for
125.

If it is in good focus, it should give you an idea of just how
much snow we've had this year.

Take Care,
Dudley

Just went back and rechecked the EXIF data.

It appears I read the ISO and shutter speed backwards. The
shutter speed is 1/125 and the ISO is 100.

So, I got the ISO speed I was after, but miscounted as I was
setting the shutter speed.

Oh, well, at least I was in the ballpark.

Take Care,
Dudley

In focus, and well exposed. The horizon line is tilted about 30
degrees to horizontal, but in that picture I kinda like it. Looks like
you've got about a meter to a meter and a half of snow?
