Lens thanks - Hi, I just wanted to thank everybody who was kind enough to offer advice to my earlier post (Lens dilema). I'm now the proud owner of a 70-200mm 2.8 L USM IS and I'm very happy with my choice. I decided not to get the 2x converter just yet, so I don't

D80 kit lens, or no? - I'll probably suspend my wait for a full frame Nikon body long enough to pick up a D80 next week. Since I shoot mostly and intend to stay that was as long as possible, the bundled DX lens doesn't seem too - as I've never..

what's the best lens for my purposes??? - i'd like to get a digital slr to shoot my artwork. that is all the camera will EVER be used for. i want a lens that will suit my needs. i believe 50mm is slightly wide, is it not? so i need 55mm, and for anything up to 85mm, maybe. most..

The best 70-200 lens for travelling - Just what the think is the best 70-200 (or lens for with a Canon 300D. I am planning a rtw trip with my wife next year and want a light but robust lens for shots which my existing 17-85 can't handle. One..

Lens Question - Hi, I have an 80-200 f2.8 Nikon Zoom left over from a late and totally F-100 that I used to own. It was the most and fragile 35mm that I've ever had! Anyway- it seems that when you use 35mm lenses on digital cameras there are..

I have a Canon 28-135 mm lens that I'm using on a 350D. It's an OK lens but
I'm having some wobble near the glass and rather than have it fixed I would
like to get a new lens. Any recommendations on similar telephoto lenses?

Does whatever is wobbling, cause a image problem?

The obvious answer is the 24-105/4.0 IS.

The 24-105/4.0 is expensive and heavy and has a bit more light falloff at
24mm on FF than I'd like, but I hear lots of people making very happy noises
about it. (I'm praying for a 55-110/2.0 and in the meantime being very happy
with the weight and sharpness and speed and price of the Tamron 28-75/2.8; a
real gem but it does wobble a bit at the long end and it doesn't get close
enough to the range you are used to.)

Since it's an internal-focus lens, it won't have the wobble problem.

Hi Rick,
I have had the 28-135 for 5 years and have had a 'loose' front since
the beginning. Others have commented the same over the years.

Good news is that it appears to have no effect on the performance for
a ~ 5x zoom, ie, better than kit lens but not up to L standard.

Hope this helps
Allan

I suspect it will last as long an any other lens. I have had a lens or
two that felt that way and never had one of them fail or cause a problem.
They sure don't feel reasuring, but they don't seem to cause problems.

I think I would save my money for something else.
