Hi guys,

I have a digital negative from a Canon EOS 20D that is 3504 x 2336
pixels in size @ 300 DPI. Some other properties are as follows:

Bit Depth: 24
Shutter Speed: 1/500 sec.
Lens Aperture: F/5.6
Focal Length: 22mm
F-Number: F/5.6
ISO Speed: ISO-400

What I would like to do is print this image at 24 x 36" but I don't
think it will turn out very well by just printing what I have.

I was hoping for some technical expertise on printing large format
prints from a 8 MP source. I'm sure there is software out there that
can help me print my images but I have no idea what to look for. Any
suggestions would be greatly aprpeciated. Cheers

Printing at the size that you require means that you will get 146 ppi
on your page.

Viewing much closer and the pixels become obvious as "jaggies" in
curves and slanted edges in the image.
There several methods to increase the aparent ppi, such as resampling
to 300 dpi (10800x7200 pixels )using your photo editing program (and
then using USM to make the image look sharper) or using a program like
Genuine Fractals, that seems to convert the image into a type of vector
graphic that allows big enlargements without jaggies.

I've had prints made up to 30" * 20" from 8mp and the quality has always
been good.

You could upscale the images using something like Bicubic smoother in CS2 or
Smartscale. There are other programs, which can do this as well.

Maybe this may help with your decision,

<http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/> for the best output quality you
can buy for a modest price.
