Just got an IXUS 960IS and I am not sure if the following is normal when
taking movies.

Any movie that has a slightly brighter area than the rest of the scene,
i.e. a window/part of a window has lots and lots of purple/blue vertical
lines running right through the frame from top to bottom, in some cases
it's a purple bar the width of the window or brighter area. Is it normal
for one of these compacts too suffer so badly from what I think is termed
vertical smear? This make the camera almost useless for taking movies
indoors with windows present and captured in the frame. (The same scene on
an S2 show no (or extremely little) vertical smear.)

"Sensor blooming" though I've never heard of it being so severe, so it
sounds like a warranty issue.
