Hi all,
I have just noticed I have a couple of 'hot pixels' appearing on my
images particularly when I take pictures at high ISO and slow shutter
speeds.
These show up as brightly lit pixels (white and blue) and are
noticible only if they happen to be on a dark area of the image and
even then only when viewed at high magnification.
Just wondering what other peoples experiences of this are, and whether
or not it is deemed 'acceptable' to have a couple of bad pixels (at
the end of the day there are millions of good ones!). I am not
impressed, and considering returning my camera for repair.
Cheers

It's a D200. It's only a month old.
I have been using a D70 for the last 3 or so years and have never had
a problem.
I was trying to recreate it again last night using the same settings
i.e. ISO 800 and exposures of around 1/10th but the one bright blue
pixel I was getting earlier in the week is now no longer there?
Explain that!
The white 5 pixel 'cross' is still there. I have tried different
lenses and it is always there.
So - it seems to be just one hot white one at the moment. I'm annoyed
but inclined to try and live with it I am aware that if I get the
camera replaced I may end up with a worse example. >> Stay informed about: Hot Pixels |

It's a D200 and I have been shooting fine jpeg. It will rarely affect
my images - I rarely shoot high ISO and dark subject etc. but that's
not the point - I have just spent a lot of cash and my camera is
flawed - I am not happy - but is it realistic to expect the camera to
be 'perfect' is the question.
reading all the forums etc. I have seen many different views. Some
people say live with it - they all have some dead/hot pixels. Others
say - get it replaced - it should be perfect - don't stand for
anything less.
I'm just looking for more opinion before I decide whether to send it
in, or put up with it and as you suggest just touch up any affected
images. >> Stay informed about: Hot Pixels |

Hello, Westy:
My Kodak P850 "super zoom" digicam has the same issue. It's still under
warranty, but I fear that Kodak may not adequately correct the problem
(they could even compound it, perhaps), or might replace my particular
unit with a worse one.
Cordially,

Does your D200 have 'issues' with hot pixels then? >> Stay informed about: Hot Pixels |
