Thinking about a "big" telephoto (500mm) for my Canon 350d - largely for
birding. Any thoughts on the Sigma 170-500mm F5.6-6.3 DG APO, or the Tamron
AF 200-500mm F5-6.3 Di LD.

Thanks,

Gordon

Think about the Canon 300mm f4 L IS combined with a 1.4x Canon
teleconverter, a bit shy of 500mm at 420mm combined BUT excellent quality
and you get image stabilisation, not to mention lack of possible
compatibility issues when you change to a different camera body.
