I've had the above camera for about 2 years now. I was carrying it in
my bag when a bottle of mineral water burst and I think it got a bit
damp. Now, whenever I switch it on it zooms in constantly. I've tried
leaving it for a few days to dry it out and fiddling with the
settings, but it doesn't seem to help. Is there something I can do to
fix this myself, or will I need to take it to the shop? Does anybody
have any idea how much this kind of fix usually costs?

Peter

it might be too late now, but your only hope was really to switch it off
and take the battery out immediately and then let it dry for about a
week. it could be more to fix than the cam is worth, talk to a repairer
first

If memory serves me, the Coolpix 4100 is a 4MP digicam. A couple of weeks
ago I bought a 4MP Nikon Coolpix L4 in a pawnshop for $60. If repairs are
any more than this, I'd toss the old one and buy a cheap used replacement.
