I own a FZ30 and a Speedlight 199A. According to
http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html the trigger voltage is
safe (4.9V) and both work OK, but only once. After the first flash,
the Pilot light on the 199A starts flashing and won't allow another
flash, unless I trigger a flash manually. After that I works again,
but again just once! The same happens when I use the 199A as a slave
with a slave trigger. I have tried so far: (1) disabled sensor, (2)
manual setting on front and back of Flash, (3) disabled the 2
additional contact pins on the hotshoe.
Is there any way to use the 199A either mounted on the FZ30 or as a
slave? (I own flash and radio controlled slave triggers).
Thank you.

I use an FZ20 with a Jessops flashgun (auto with thyristor) and get no such
problems. This would lead me to believe that your flash is faulty, although
it could also be your camera settings.

For the record, I set the camera to manual (menu item 4/4), NOT preset, and
aperture-priority, the flash to ISO100, flash head to bounce (about 60°),
using the exposure button on the camera, I set an aperture to F4 for
photographing a whole room, or about F8 for a bounced portrait at say 6
feet. The flash head is set to wide angle and I may also use a diffuser for
large rooms.

The FZ30 is a later model but should have identical software settings.

Dennis.
